National law firm Holding Redlich today announced the relocation of its Melbourne office to two floors (2,600m2) in the newly redeveloped 500 Bourke Street.
The move to 500 Bourke Street is part of the firm’s refresh of its office portfolio following the redevelopment of its Sydney office at 25 Martin Place. Holding Redlich is also looking at options for its Brisbane office.
A major element of the office portfolio refresh is rolling out the firm’s ‘Office of the Future’ which looks to respond to the changing nature of work post-COVID but also deliver high-quality work environments that its people enjoy working in.
Howard Rapke, Holding Redlich’s Melbourne Managing Partner, said the move enabled the firm to create a dynamic, engaging workplace where its people could prosper and thrive.
“We aimed to create an environment that fosters collaboration and where everyone has a dedicated workspace,” Howard said. “Our partners and senior lawyers have offices around the core of the building, and we opened up the perimeter for dedicated open work points which have been designed to afford our people with a great level of privacy in a space which is their own.
“The space is designed to bring people together and provide opportunities for quiet work where required,” Howard added. “There are also dedicated gathering places on each floor with a variety of options for people to sit individually or in groups. The feedback from our people has been overwhelmingly positive since we moved in and I look forward to the firm growing and prospering in our terrific new office.”
Holding Redlich’s new office in Melbourne was designed by Woods Bagot and built by MPA. In a first for a legal fit out, the team created a W-Class Melbourne tram which functions as a seating and dining area in its main breakout area on level 22.
ISPT undertook a major $160 million redevelopment of 500 Bourke Street following NAB’s relocation. The building has been transformed with the principles of ESG excellence, with a complete overhaul of the interiors and third spaces, to deliver what is effectively a new build within an existing shell. 500 Bourke represents one of the first net zero carbon buildings in Melbourne: low upfront emissions, highly efficient, fully electric, and powered by renewables.
