Expertise

Nevin is a dispute resolution expert with over 30 years of legal experience. He specialises in government regulatory work and administrative decision making. 

He also has extensive experience in insurance backed litigation claims extending from professional indemnity – doctors, directors and lawyers to toxic torts, public liability, personal injury, aviation incidents and coronials.

Nevin’s experience with government clients has provided him with insight to the various stakeholders’ interests and the most strategic ways in resolving the dispute. This extends to investigations and also representation before Integrity Commissions.

Nevin has been recognised in Best Lawyers over the years 2011-2024 in Alternative Dispute Resolution, Insurance, Legal Malpractice Litigation and Medical Negligence.

Experience

Nevin’s experience includes:

  • acted for a Senator in the High Court concerning the constitutional dispute regarding s.44 of the Constitution
  • acted in multiple matters arising from aviation accidents concerning the extent of duty of care of the regulator
  • successfully defended government department legislative provisions contained in regulations governing mercy flights
  • acted in urgent injunctive relief concerning flight operations over the Melbourne CBD during Covid restrictions
  • acted for doctors in both complicated medical malpractice matters and extended disciplinary complaints before AHPRA
  • acted for individuals appearing before the ACT Integrity Commission
  • acts for government department concerning a portfolio of claims by Commonwealth employees pursuant to the SRC Act involving assessment of the claim i.e. quantum of damages and representation in the AAT
  • acted for government department regarding damages claims arising from the injunctive relief associated with the proceeds of crime
  • acted for government department regarding claims arising from toxic torts.
