Lili has extensive experience acting for clients in the construction industry across a broad range of sectors, including public infrastructure (particularly sewage treatment and road infrastructure), commercial, residential, and local government. Lili’s focus has been on major infrastructure project delivery, disputes, and litigation, which involve technically complex construction and engineering based issues.

Lili has acted on behalf of Principals/Owners, Contractors, and Subcontractors, providing advice and assisting with complex legal issues arising out of construction contracts and project delivery, including contractual interpretation and operation, legislative compliance, management and preparation of project-based claims and disputes, dispute resolution (including mediation), and litigation.

Experience

Lili’s recent experience includes:

• acting for a State-owned utilities provider in Supreme Court proceedings involving claims for delay and damages, arising from contractual and statutory breaches in relation to technical and engineering-based issues
• acting for a State-owned utilities provider in respect of public infrastructure upgrades, advising on and managing ongoing claims and disputes, and providing ongoing project delivery support and contract management
• acting for Head Contractors and Contractors in respect of major road and bridge infrastructure upgrades in Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria, advising on and assisting with ongoing claims and disputes relating to delay and disruption, and other technical/engineering-based issues
• acting for a Local Government in respect of various contracts and contract-based disputes, relating to defective works and payment recovery, and advising on various statutory obligations and requirements under relevant legislation, including in respect of security of payment
• assisting a Local Government with the preparation and drafting of Local Laws and associated material, while on secondment with that Local Government
• acting on behalf Principals and Contractors in Queensland and New South Wales in the preparation of Payment Schedules, and Adjudication Applications and Adjudication Reponses (and associated material), under the relevant Security of Payment legislation
• acting on behalf of Principals, Contractors and Subcontractors in the preparation and amendment of Australian Standards and bespoke design and construct, and construct-only contracts and contract suites, including while on secondment with a Tier 1 Contractor
• acting for a Property Developer in a successful Application brought during Supreme Court Proceedings relating to the design and construction of apartments.
