Expertise

Andrew is an investment funds lawyer with 20 years of experience in the investment management and financial services industry. 

Andrew has acted for the largest global asset management groups in the establishment and operation of investment funds across all asset classes, including real estate and infrastructure, public and private equity and public and private debt. 

His practice includes fund and fund-like structures, funds of one, separately managed accounts, exchange traded funds (ETFs), co-investments, joint ventures, and other capital partnerships. He provides advice in relation to Australian Financial Services Licence matters, product disclosure statements and product design and distribution obligations.

In addition to this work, Andrew acts on asset management related mergers and acquisitions and asset transactions.

Experience

Andrew's recent experience includes: 

  • establishing the investment mandate between Richmond Bridge Asset Management and UniSuper, and acting on many related transactions under the mandate arrangements. This includes acting on the acquisition of Burra Park, a 280 hectare industrial, manufacturing and logistics site located adjacent to Western Sydney Airport with an estimated end value of A$4 billion
  • acting for Fortlake Asset Management in the operation of their managed fund products
  • acting in relation to the AMP Australian Property Fund, Wholesale Office Fund and Community Infrastructure Fund in relation to transactional, constitution and governance matters
  • acted for Qualitas in relation to the establishment of the Qualitas US Multifamily Fund, the Qualitas US Office Fund, the Qualitas Seniors Housing Fund, the Qualitas Mezzanine Debt Fund and other Qualitas managed funds
  • acted for Keppel REIT in relation to the establishment of its investment management mandate with Lendlease in relation to the Blue and William property located in North Sydney
  • acting in relation to the establishment of the c. US$3B (at inception), HRL Morrison & Co Global Infrastructure Fund
  • acted for BlackRock in relation to the operation of its iShares portfolio of exchange traded funds
  • acted for the Australian predecessor of Global X in relation to the launch of numerous Australian exchange traded funds
  • acted for MaxCap in relation to the establishment of a c. $600M private debt mandate with APG Asset Management.
